VCNL3030X01 Proximity Sensors for Force Sensing
Vishay Semiconductors VCNL3030X01 Proximity Sensors are designed to make any surface a touch-sensitive surface and measure deflections of a surface as small as 50µm. These proximity sensors create a local touch-sensitive area similar to a home button on mobile phones, rather than using a mechanical button or having an entire display be touch-sensitive. The Vishay VCNL3030X01 series enables users to detect a touch, measure the change in touch pressure, and allow the end product to be completely sealed from the environment. The sensors integrate an infrared emitter, photodiode, amplifiers, and analog-to-digital converting circuits on one chip, featuring 16-bit resolution. Using an I2C interface, the VCNL3030X01 series supports programmable interrupts with individual high and low thresholds, eliminating the need for microcontroller polling. The proximity sensors operate on an input voltage range of 2.5V to 3.6V.
