OPB88/89-Z Photointerrupters

Optek / TT Electronics OPB88/89-Z Series Photointerrupters consist of transmissive (slotted) photointerrupters that integrate an infrared LED emitter and an NPN silicon phototransistor in a single through-beam package. These slotted optical switches are designed for non-contact detection of motion or object interruption using a mechanical flag, encoder wheel, or similar interrupter element. The OPB88 and OPB89 families share a common optical platform, with variations in lead configuration, mechanical form factor, and aperture options, depending on the specific variant. Both series provide an open-collector phototransistor output requiring an external pull-up resistor for digital interface operation.
