ams OSRAM Direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) Sensors
ams OSRAM Direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) Sensors provide high-accuracy, long-range measurements up to 11m. These sensors offer capabilities such as ±3% precision beyond 200mm and fast startup times. The dToF sensors feature integrated on-chip processing to deliver actionable data, including distance, confidence levels, and ambient light, reducing system complexity and development effort. These sensors support multi-zone solutions that enable rich spatial awareness through high-resolution depth mapping, as well as single-zone solutions that emphasize power efficiency and cost optimization. Solutions such as the TMF8829 bring high-resolution 3D sensing with wide field-of-view coverage, while the TMF8806 offers simplified integration for single-zone applications with ultra-low power consumption. Additionally, flexible VCSEL pulse configuration and simple I2C-based control allow designers to tailor performance to specific environmental and application requirements.
The dToF sensors offer versatility and scalability, making them ideal for next-generation AI-enabled and spatially aware devices. These sensors support a broad range of applications across consumer, industrial, and smart system designs. Typical applications include depth-based object detection, collision avoidance in robotics and logistics, scene mapping, Laser Detect Autofocus (LDAF) in mobile devices, and smart appliances.
Direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) Technology
Direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) sensing technology enables fast, precise, and reliable distance measurement by calculating the time it takes for emitted infrared light to reflect off objects and return to the sensor.
