Texas Instruments TPS61382A-Q1 Boost Converter
Texas Instruments TPS61382A-Q1 Boost Converter is an automotive bidirectional boost converter with an integrated buck/LDO charger and battery state-of-health detection. The device is developed for backup-power systems such as telematics boxes and emergency-call designs that require direct connection to a 12V car battery and protection against load-dump conditions.
The TPS61382A-Q1 integrates an I2C-configurable charger that supports NiMH, Li-Ion, and LiFePO4 battery chemistries. The TI TPS61382A-Q1 Boost Converter also includes a programmable boost converter for 12V backup systems, automatic transition into boost mode when the 12V system voltage drops, and battery state-of-health detection that discharges the battery with constant current to detect a voltage drop across the internal resistance.
The device is designed for emergency call (eCall) applications that require automotive backup power, battery charging, battery temperature monitoring, and diagnostic feedback. The TPS61382A-Q1 uses fixed-frequency peak-current-mode control with optional spread-spectrum for EMI reduction and is offered in a wettable-flank WQFN package.
