Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated MAX30031–MAX30034 ESD Protectors

Analog Devices MAX30031–MAX30034 ESD Protectors are patent-pending protection devices that absorb repetitive defibrillation and other high-energy pulses. This protects sensitive electronic circuitry in ECGs and other medical/industrial equipment. Each of these devices can withstand over 100,000 defibrillation pulses without failure. The Analog Devices devices are intended to replace the gas-discharge tubes and transient absorbers in applications where a significant size reduction is beneficial. These devices also provide a lower, well-defined on-voltage that can offer higher degrees of protection to sensitive electronics.

The devices use a rugged integrated circuit process and high-speed circuitry to ensure speedy turn-on times with trigger voltages low enough not to require secondary clamping circuitry. A low hold current of approximately 175mA ensures protection is maintained for the entire length of the high-energy transient event.
