Texas Instruments TPS25948 Bi-directional Power Delivery eFuses
Texas Instruments TPS25948 Bi-directional Power Delivery eFuses provide a robust defense against overloads, short circuits, voltage surges, reverse polarities, and excessive inrush currents. These highly integrated devices provide circuit protection and power-management solutions in small 12-ball Power Wafer Chip Scale Packages (PowerWCSP). The TPS25948 eFuses employ a linear ORing-based scheme, ensuring almost zero DC-reverse currents and emulating ideal diode characteristics with minimal forward voltage drop and power dissipation. These bi-directional power delivery devices respond to output overload by actively limiting the current. The reverse current flow from output to input is always blocked with integrated back-to-back FETs. This makes the devices well-suited for power MUX and ORing applications and systems that need load-side energy hold-up storage if the input power supply fails. Typical applications include USB PD protection, adapter/charger protection, and enterprise storage devices like HBA, SAN, and eSSDs.
